Taylor Laurence Rhodes is an American songwriter, producer, and musician from Nashville, Tennessee, most notable for his work with hard rock band Aerosmith since 1993.[1]
In 1993, he co-wrote the big hit "Cryin'" with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. The song was Aerosmith's biggest single from the Get a Grip album (which sold 14 million worldwide), reaching #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song earned him a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rock Song (songwriter) in 1993.[2]
In 1994, he co-wrote the hit "Blind Man" with Tyler and Perry for the compilation Big Ones (certified 4 million in the U.S.). "Blind Man" reached #48 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and #23 on the UK Singles Chart.
In 1997, he collaborated with Steven Tyler in writing the single "Full Circle" for the 2x platinum album (5 million worldwide) Nine Lives.
Some of Rhodes' songs also appeared on Aerosmith's platinum-certified live collection A Little South of Sanity, gold-certified compilation Young Lust: The Aerosmith Anthology, and double platinum-certified O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits.
Rhodes co-wrote the Celine Dion hit "Where Does My Heart Beat Now", which was the most successful single from the Unison album and became Dion's first English-language hit. In 2008, it was included on the North American version of My Love: Essential Collection.
In 1997, he co-wrote the Ozzy Osbourne hit single "Back on Earth" from the 2x platinum greatest hits album The Ozzman Cometh.
In 2000, he collaborated with Gary Louris in writing The Jayhawks's single "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" that was used in the Ralph Lauren national TV campaign (for four years) for the mens scent "Polo Blue". It also appeared on the second soundtrack released from Dawson's Creek "Songs from Dawson's Creek Volume 2", and the 2001 film All Over the Guy.
Rhodes co-wrote the song "Party Up" on Hilary Duff's 2003 album Metamorphosis, her first full-length studio album that reached number one on the U.S. and Canadian charts and had sold over 3.7 million copies by May 2005.
He produced the 1991 Kix album Hot Wire, as well as co-writing half of songs. He also co-wrote the hit single "Cold Blood" from Kix's platinum selling 1988 album Blow My Fuse.[3][4]
He co-wrote and produced several songs on Peter Wolf's 1990 album "Up To No Good" and the 1998 album Fool's Parade.[5] Rhodes also co-wrote songs on Peter Wolf's 2010 release Midnight Souvenirs.
Rhodes co-wrote the songs "Lose You Now" and "Kickin & Screamin" on Becca's debut album "ALIVE", her first full-length album that will be released in the U.S. in 2010 under the label Sony Music Entertainment after already having previous charted success overseas with its release in Japan and the UK.
Some other notable song credits are the hard rock hit "That Don't Satisfy Me" (peaked at #6 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks) from Brother Cane's self titled 1993 album Brother Cane, the hit single "Heart Over Mind" from Jennifer Rush's successful 1987 overseas album titled Heart Over Mind that reached No.1 all over Europe, the single "All The Way" from Journey's 2001 album Arrival, "Back n' Blue" from Cheap Trick's Busted album, the single "Love Will Rise Again" from Loverboy's 1987 gold certified album Wildside, both singles "Amnesia" and "Faith Healer" from Tora Tora's 1992 album Wild America, as well as many other songs in commercials, movies, and television.
